Social Anxiety to me is not being able to look people in the eye and walking on the other side of the street to avoid having to speak to people as they walk past. It’s also peeing in a trash can to avoid going out of my room. Although it isn’t as debilitating as it sounds, it’s only been that bad sometimes. But I’ve recovered so much since I was a child. Still it’s hard, and the internet is the only way I am able to express myself and feel like I am not alone. Because I am anonymous and people don’t know me on the internet I can speak freely.

@MsAgnosticatheist Y do u use ur religious upbringing as an excuse 4 not being able to reach out & make friends? Surely u r aware that many ppl who weren’t raised in a religious home have the exact same issue as u. What is there excuse 4 not making friends? They weren’t raised in a religious home, that y they can’t make friends now?
The problem, as u mentioned, is the fear.? It isn’t how u, or the others, were raised.
I do wish the best 4 u when it comes 2 ur mental well-being.
    Jehovah bless u.

I struggle with this, too and feel overwhelmed with all of the combined problems I have. It seems like a whirlpool I can’t get out of. Everything you said makes sense to me and is relatable – thanks so much for having the courage and honesty to speak out.?

Well, that’s just it, I’m not sure what happened – I was smart, athletic, friendly, albeit shy – but I? started to feel a lot of anxiety in middle school. It didn’t help that my family moved between my elementary and middle school years, so in 6th grade I didn’t know anyone. I dunno, I just became super self-conscious and afraid of looking dumb to other people.

  • MsAgnosticatheist:

It can be an innate thing too. What do you mean by you developed? ina different way?

  • machinations7:

I’m glad you made this video. I have been dealing with a lot of the same issues since middle school. The funny thing is, I didn’t have most of these problems when I was little. Up until 4th or 5th grade, I remember having lots of friends and never feeling anxiety or insecurity for no reason on a daily basis. I guess other kids my age kept developing normally whereas I developed in a different way. I often wonder if it was something in particular that happened to me or if? this is more innate

I hope you’ll check out the video response that I posted here about my experience with Social Anxiety. Today… I still don’t want to go in? public the way I look like in person and being depressing that no one isn’t hearing me out so much; no one contacts me at all in my family and really don’t like being touched at all, unless I know. I really hurts me and bugs me to deal with this and just like you, I lost friends too. You see how this is been for me?

  • MsAgnosticatheist:

Thanks. I know how bad? alcohol is, my boyfriend is a recovering alcoholic and he abused me terribly. But I know how bad it is.

  • ronfan69:

You’re right. It is very hard for other’s looking in to understand. Especially for a female with your looks and articulate ability. It is impossible for anyone who hasn’t experienced something to understand it. I would imagine alcoholism could be/become a big problem for you. But I would highly recommend not going down that road. Trust me, it will lead to even more suffering than you are facing now.

I? wish you the best of luck for the future.
