What is a Social Phobia?
Have you always felt shy in the company of others? Do you find it difficult finding things to say and making conversation? Are you seen as the loner at work? Do you avoid social situations like the plague? Are family weddings and parties an ordeal for you? Do you depend on your partner to do all the talking for you? Do you feel like shrivelling up and dying if faced with speaking to a group of people, especially those you don’t know? Do you prefer to stay in the company of those you are closest to?
Do you dread social occasions like parties and weddings? Do you always find yourself on the sidelines while everyone else seems to be enjoying themselves? Do you find it hard to know what to say to people you know never mind those you’ve never met before? Do you rely on your partner to do all the talking? Are you unable to engage your brain when asked a question? Do you never start conversations with people? Do you spend most of your time at work with your head down because you don?t know what to say to people?
If this sounds like you then you could be suffering from a social phobia disorder. People with this condition feel very isolated from the rest of society and their life can be a very lonely one indeed. They avoid social occasions at all cost and if they are forced to go because of family commitments they feel uncomfortable and cannot wait until it’s time for home again. Social phobia leaves you feeling isolated, misunderstood and alone. The problem is characterised by the idea there is something wrong with you and deep feelings of inferiority: unlike other people.
What is the cause of social phobia?
If you are one of those people who is suffering from this often debilitating phobia you might think there is nothing you can do about it. You may think it’s just the way you are and you were born like it so there’s nothing you can do about it. This is far from the truth. Social anxiety phobia, in common with all phobias is learned behaviour. Maybe you were labelled shy as a child and things escalated from there or maybe you found it hard to make friends at school and you decided that you weren’t good with people. Whatever the reason for your social phobia you can overcome it.
All phobias start in the mind. It’s the thoughts you think both prior to the social occasion and during it that cause the problem. Whenever something happens to us that causes an emotional reaction the memory gets burnt into our physiology and runs like a software program. This program runs automatically from then on whenever the same situation arises.
All memories are stored in the brain and we have access to them by thinking the same or similar thoughts which, because of the body mind connection means we react in exactly the same way as in the past. Your mind goes blank, you start to blush, sweat, tremble and any number of other reactions happen because of the disaster pictures you are giving to your mind. If you tell your mind, through your thoughts and internal dialogue, that you are going into a dangerous (for you) place it will react accordingly.
Help it’s ruining my life what can I do about it?
NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)has been proved to be the most effective way to remove phobias fast. What if it was possible to remove the software program just like you do on your computer? Think what a difference it would make if you could replace it with a new program which meant that you could be comfortable in social situations. Imagine if you could converse with strangers as easily as you can talk to your nearest and dearest.
Wouldn’t that be wonderful? What if it was much easier than you think. Social Phobia treatment is effective and long lasting and it can be yours today.
